On 5/24/10 my 7-year old APHA mare Leo was diagnosed with acute laminitis. She battled courageously for 4 months, spiraling downhill as her bones sank, rotated & ultimately started to die. On 9/24/10 she went to Happy Horsey Heaven where she now runs & plays in perfect health. I created this blog to keep people informed of her progress. Now that she's gone I hope other owners can use it as a learning tool, as well as a place to share their experiences with people who understand.
I just wanted to say my heart is breaking for your sweet mare and what she has been through with her treatment. My own mare foundered about 19 months ago and it was not fun~~but she is back to riding again and her feet look great...it's amazing how quickly they can grow a new good hoof! Good luck! (and her treatment was without shoes as I have always trimmed her and honestly, I think I did a better job than anyone else could have ever done because I am with her every single day and was able to monitor her so closely)
